LuckPerms<\/a> is hands down the best permissions plugin for Minecraft servers. Created and maintained by developer lucko, its introduction in 2016 was a literal game-changer. Predecessors such as PermissionsEx and GroupManager contained several limitations or bugs which made picking a permissions plugin a lot like choosing between crippling contracts. Suddenly, trading better wildcard support for improved tab completion was no longer a concern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LuckPerms did it all, and better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don’t let its simplistic logo and easy-to-read presentation fool you: the quality of code behind LuckPerms is among the best in its class. Its file size is kept small due to downloading dependencies for MySQL and some of its other 13 storage types while your server is running (source<\/a>). You can even import other permission data if you made the unfortunate choice of using a competitor prior to LuckPerms. Larger communities and multi-server networks will have no trouble using LuckPerms as it was designed with these situations in mind. If you’re concerned about managing a significant amount of data then fret not, as the secure web editor makes this an absolute breeze. One thing to keep in mind is that Fabric servers cannot use LuckPerms with vanilla commands and some mods. The default group new players are assigned to is also a point of controversy – which is recognized in its own wiki page<\/a> – but solutions are available if this behavior isn’t to your liking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
